Founded in 2004, Story Pirates is an education and media program that has
earned national acclaim for its celebration of the words and ideas of young people. This is in large part due to the fact that all of their shows are based entirely on stories written by elementary school students. Part of the shows are even made up on the spot by the children in the audience! Story Pirates strives to enhance the cultural and artistic well-being of young, growing minds.
The show features delightful and surprising acts with puppets, uplifting songs and outrageous sketches. A wide variety of zany story topics is presented, ranging from flying cats to kung fu ninja babies fighting crime and tickle monsters who rule the world. This is more than just a fun show, however. It also motivates kids to pick up a pencil and write down their own amazing adventures. This Play/Write Program started out as a pilot in a single low-income Harlem school but has since blossomed into a nationally respected creative writing and drama curriculum in place annually at over 250 schools throughout the country.
Story Pirates will be available for Napa County residents at the Napa Valley Performing Arts Center at Lincoln Theater in Yountville, CA. The show takes place on Sunday, February 26th from 3 pm to 5 pm. Tickets are just $15.
