The rains are over (we hope). The hills are a brilliant green and the wildflowers and other blooms are out in full force. All of which make the Napa Valley a better-than-ever place to celebrate Mother’s Day on Sunday, May 14. There are a number of ways to treat your mom or wife like a queen. Try one or more of these:
Take her on a sentimental journey. Accompany mom on a relaxing three-hour trip aboard the Napa Valley Wine Train, including a tasting of its private-label wine and a multi-course, gourmet meal. Or enjoy a Balloon ride with Napa Valley Aloft and add on a Champagne post-flight breakfast.
Toast her with a tasting.Beringer Vineyards is offering a complimentary tasting for all mothers and their companions in its Old Winery building, along with a long-stemmed flower for Mom.
Celebrate her al fresco. Buy supplies for a high-end picnic at V. Sattui Winery’s extensive artisan deli, then pounce on one of the highly coveted tables under the olive trees for a leisurely lunch. Or reserve a Local Wines and Culinary Picnic at Liana Estates and grab a spot overlooking the Carneros region, then play a friendly game of bocce.
Whatever you do, be nice to your siblings and no elbows on the table. Moms deserve that at least one day a year, right?
