Donavon Frankenreiter’s new album, “The Heart,” officially marks the start of the singer-songwriter’s second decade as a solo recording artist. It’s been over ten years since the release of his self-titled debut, and in that time he has grown, not only as a musician, but also as a man. He’s raising a family and nurturing two creative careers-one onstage, one in the waves-but on top of all that, he’s still learning what makes him tick. And so, naturally, he named his album after his ticker.
“All these songs are as close to me singing from the heart as I can,” says Frankenreiter. “It’s a complete record; the songs are intertwined. I had to call it ‘The Heart,’ that was the theme of the record.”
The songs here are seriously sentimental, without question the heaviest material he has released to date. Part of that inspiration came from his co-writer, the prolific songwriter Grant-Lee Phillips, with whom Frankenreiter had collaborated in the past on his album “Pass It Around.” He recognized the ease with which the two worked together and sent Phillips a handful of new tunes and ideas. He was astonished at the brilliance of the songs that came back, and so quickly, but also by one of Phillips’ suggestions in particular.
“Grant told me, ‘You should make the most intimate and honest record you’ve ever made,'” says Frankenreiter. “So these songs are simple and intimate and honest, they aren’t cheeky. There’s some ups and downs-I love writing positive songs and happy tunes, but there are some downers here. I feel like it’s where I’m at, 42 years old. Every one of these songs means a lot to me. They’re from the heart.”

It’s Urban and Intimate…. Join Crosby Roamann, Spelletich Family Winery and Trinitas Cellars for this progressive opportunity to experience a behind the scenes peek at Napa winemaking with three small family Napa wine producers in the hip, urban Crusher Wine District in Napa, CA.
Limited to 12 guests, the group will be escorted to each winery site where owners will host seated tastings, share stories and reveal their passions through samples of their current wine releases, barrel tastings and exclusive library vintages.
To accompany the wine tasting menus, a progression of delectable small bites prepared by Chef Paul Fields of Twenty Below will be served to complement the hand picked wine selections at each winery location.

Bring Dad! Each winery will be offering Fathers Day specials on wine purchases so guests can acquire some of their favorite wines along the way.
DETAILS:
The Triple Crown Experience will begin at Crosby Roamann @ 10:30 a.m. Juliana and Sean will welcome guests with a lineup of their current vintages and some barrel sampling. The tasting will be sumptuously paired with some savory brunch small bites.
After priming their palates at Crosby Roamann, guests will be escorted to the Spelletich Family Winery (a few blocks away), where guests will join Barb & Tim Spelletich and enjoy some current and library vintage Bordeaux varietals. Light lunch appetizers and barrel sampling will also be included on the menu.
Finally, the day will wrap with a library tasting at Trinitas Cellars, where guests will be treated to some long barrel library vintages paired with cheeses and light desserts.
When the Trinitas experience concludes, guests will be escorted back to their point of origination.
Tickets for this event are limited to 12 guests, and we encourage early responses to secure a seat.

Operation Love will be on site collecting donations to provide care packages to our deployed armed forces stationed in harm’s way. All proceeds from these sales go directly to the nonprofits.

Napa Airport Vintage Aircraft Display
Check out vintage aircraft displays at the Napa County Airport on the third weekend of the month now through October.
Aircraft are in personal hangars that are opened up during these hours. Visitors should meet in front of the sign at Gate H next to the Napa Jet Center main building. An escort will meet you and stay with you during the tour. All aircraft are at least 35 years old.
