Trees are an essential part of any property, providing shade, and beauty, and even boosting its value. As a real estate agent, I’ve seen firsthand how trees can play a vital role in the buying and selling process. That’s why I reached out to my friend, Bill Pramuk, a local consulting arborist, to get his expert opinion on the matter.
In home sales, trees can be and have been for me, an important part of the deal.
When I asked Bill, “What are a few key points home buyers or sellers should know with respect to existing trees?”, this is what he replied…
“Some problems a buyer or seller might not notice may be obvious to an experienced arborist. Here are three key points:
Safety: It’s important to identify any trees that could potentially cause harm or property damage. A qualified arborist can conduct a visual examination from ground level to determine if a tree poses a risk.
Tree health: Pest and disease issues can be difficult to spot for those without experience, and can end up costing significant amounts of money for treatment or removal of sick or dying trees. It’s best to have an experienced arborist examine the trees and identify any health concerns.
Poor placement: Coastal redwoods are known to be among the largest growing trees in the world, and if planted too close to a home or other structure, they can push against obstacles like driveways, fences, or even a home’s foundation. It’s important to consider the placement of trees when planting to avoid future issues.
Bill has helped me out with tree issues and would be happy to help you if the need arises.
